Each and every woman shows different signs of pregnancy that depends on a number of factors such as the woman’s health and whether the pregnancy is normal or has certain complications. Most women only know of the common pregnancy signs like fatigue, missed periods, morning sickness and nausea, but there are various other uncommon signs and symptoms too. Some of these signs include:
The appearance of veins around the chest and upper arms is one among the most uncommon signs of early pregnancy. This sign can be very worrying, particularly if the veins are noticeable. During pregnancy period, the volume of the blood in the veins expands and its flow increases. The change leads to the swelling of small blood vessels, thereby making them to stand out more against your skin. Even though most women don’t like the appearance of these veins, they aren’t actually harmful to your health in any way.
Increased Cervical Discharge
There are cases where pregnant women notice more cervical fluid discharge. This can occur either all though the day or even once in a day. You may also notice that the fluid has unusual smell and color. This usually happens as a result of the increased hormones and the vaginal blood flow. However, remember to talk to you doctor if the discharge develops a foul odor, becomes greenish yellow in color, becomes very thick or becomes very watery; you might be having an infection.
The increased estrogen hormone causes your mucous membrane to swell and can even increase the production of mucus. Furthermore, the increased blood volume, which occurs during pregnancy, can cause the small blood vessels in your nose to swell, resulting in even more congestion. Running nose or nasal congestion during pregnancy, in the absence of allergies or an infection, is referred to as rhinitis of pregnancy.
Metallic Taste in the Mouth
This is one among the most uncommon pregnancy signs. The taste usually gets worse during the first trimester and is said to be caused by an increase in hormone estrogen. Nevertheless, certain pre-natal vitamins can contribute as well. But don’t stop taking your pre-natal vitamins except if you’re instructed to do so by your doctor or physician.
Increased Saliva Production
Some women often report to have excess saliva, which is a result of hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy. Nevertheless, it’s more common in women who are vomiting or suffer from heartburn. Both heartburn and vomiting are common pregnancy symptoms that lead to acidic material irritating your esophagus. The saliva contains a high bicarbonate level, so more of the saliva may be produced to help neutralize the acid. Remember that this condition is harmless and will probably disappear after delivery.
Sleeplessness can be caused by the actions of various pregnancy hormones. It can also be as a result of various uncommon conditions that develop during pregnancy, such as heartburn, pre-birth anxiety, leg crumps, and frequent urination.
Increased Skin Pigmentation
Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause a short-term increase in melanin. The increased skin pigmentation is usually more common on blotchy areas on the face, areas that are susceptible to friction such as the armpit, and areas which are already pigmented such as freckles and moles.
